Sandugo Festival 2008

The Sandugo Festival is also known as the Blood Compact Commemoration and is often tagged as the mother of all festivals. It is a month long celebration every July in the city of Bohol, to commemorate the Sandugo or the signing of a treaty of friendship between Datu Si Katuna and Miguel Lopez de Legazpi.

The festival used to be held in March until it was changed to July a few years ago to coincide with the annual Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Kalibutan, a gathering of Boholanos from all around the world.

Ask Mindy

"A gloomy afternoon to you Ms. Mindy! I really feel bad whenever there's a typhoon and we still have our classes when all year levels from elementary to secondary are having a warm comfy time inside their houses. Can you please enlighten me about the guidelines regarding class suspensions. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks! "

Hey, Ron! As of June 21, 2011 the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education together with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released guidelines regarding the suspension of classes during inclement weather. They provide the suspension of classes in preschool in areas under signal number 1; in preschool, elementary, and high school under signal number 2; and in all levels under signal numbers 3 and 4. Remember this rule, and don't forget to monitor the news in times of bad weather. As G.I. Joe famously said, “Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.” XD
